Gameplay

These conceptual shots are built on the framework of some of the sketches to make more a definitive look at how the game play would actually look. These shots were also incorporated into the pre-alpha trailer.

Below are shots from a different scenario further in the conceptual story. These images were incorporated into the trailer to provide what some game play would look like as well.

This image below is a destination “Splash Page”. The idea is when the player clicks on a location, a screen like this would appear showing the location. This screen would also serve as a loading/transitional screen from the overworld to more localized play.

Below is the overworld map for the game. I decided against having rails connecting all the locations when I created this mock-up in Photoshop. The images got too convoluted and it was difficult to read the locations with lines going everywhere, so to compensate, there will be scenes before and after a location is selected showing a train to underline the fact that this transport is on railways.

As the player progresses, locations will change due to what was around historically. These images show a large interval just for the sake of showing a change over time. In the actual game, the changes would take place yearly and would be more frequent (maybe even down to the month depending on how much research can be found). I went with lesser known cities so it would be more of a surprise to people playing as to if this stop was a large community or not.

The last image also shows a time beyond the scope of the game (the finished game will end around 1945). The image is just here for depictions of disappearing locations over time and will not be included in the full game.
